The UFC’s matchmaking team has been busy brewing up another exciting middleweight clash. Kevin Holland and Chris Curtis are set to lock horns at UFC 307 on October 5th. It’s a bout that promises fireworks, with both fighters known for their entertaining styles and knockout prowess.
Holland, the self-proclaimed “Trailblazer,” is looking to blaze a trail back to the top. He’s coming off a win over Michał Oleksiejczuk at UFC 302 in June. That victory must have tasted sweet after a two-fight losing streak. Now, he’s hoping to start a winning streak and climb those middleweight rankings.
On the other side of the octagon, we have Chris “The Action Man” Curtis. He’s eager to live up to his nickname after a recent setback. Curtis is coming off a split-decision loss to Brendan Allen in April. To make matters worse, he suffered a torn hamstring in that fight. But Curtis isn’t letting that injury keep him down. He’s healed up and ready to jump back into action. The Ohio native has had a bit of a rollercoaster ride lately. He’s gone 2-2 with one no-contest in his last five fights.
This matchup is sure to get fans excited. Both fighters are known for their striking prowess and willingness to engage. The fight will take place at UFC 307, which is expected to be held in Salt Lake City. As of now, no main event has been announced for the card. But with additions like this, it’s shaping up to be a cracker of an event.
Kevin Holland Reveals Turning Down The Nick Diaz Fight
Holland is a fan-favorite known for his straightforward demeanor and bold fighting style. He recently dropped a bombshell about UFC legend Nick Diaz’s highly anticipated comeback fight. He claimed that he was the first choice for Diaz’s opponent.
The welterweight division has been buzzing with excitement since rumors of Diaz’s return surfaced. Holland shed light on the situation as he revealed that he was offered the fight against Diaz before anyone else. However, in an unexpected move, Holland turned down the opportunity. His reason? The timing just didn’t work out.

“I was supposed to take a fight at 170 against a pretty big-name opponent. But they said he wasn’t going to be able to fight until August, and I said, ‘Damn, that’s a long time.’ And they’re like, ‘Bro, it’s only an extra month.’ And I was like, ‘Nah, that’s too long,’ So I got this, and I’m happy with it. I guess that [othe] fight is not going to circle back because I see he just got booked, so let’s see what happens after,” Holland said while talking to MMA Junkie.
Diaz was then paired up against Vicente Luque later on for the Abu Dhabi card in August. However, the fight was then canceled, citing Diaz’s traveling problems. Holland instead fought at UFC 302 and won the fight. Maybe his stars aligned perfectly, as he gained one more win and dodged a potential cancellation if he had accepted.
