The main event of Australia’s upcoming UFC 305 has been confirmed. Middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis will face Israeli fighter Israel Adesanya.
UFC 305 is scheduled for Saturday, August 17th, 2024, at RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia.
Adesanya has yet to compete since losing to Sean Strickland in September 2023, which resulted in losing his title for the second time in a year. Since then, he has refined every aspect of his diet and training regimen and announced that he is “coming for heads” as he establishes his legacy.
Israel Adesanya Has Announced His Comeback Against Dricus Du Plessis
Adesanya’s disclosure precedes any official confirmation from the organization or Dana White. An announcement on the championship bout is anticipated in the next few days.
He shared an Instagram post confirming his return for UFC 305 in the main event.
Adesnya wrote, “The SUN of Africa is the same sun that lights up our planet.

The SUN, enjoy while it shines. Darkness falls when it’s gone.”
Before du Plessis suffered a leg injury during training camp and missed the UFC 293 event in Sydney, the two looked ready to face off in the cage last year. This allowed Sean Strickland to pull off a massive upset and win the title from Adesanya.
With the division in disarray, du Plessis would finally have his chance to win the title he had previously won. He wasted no time dispatching Strickland in January, paving the way for a matchup with the sensational New Zealander known as “Stylebender.”
