Jose Aldo has spoken his opinion on longtime adversary Conor McGregor’s eagerly awaited return matchup with Michael Chandler in UFC 303.
Brazil’s Aldo and Ireland’s McGregor are among the most recognisable rivalries in the history of mixed martial arts and combat sports. At UFC 194 in December 2015, McGregor, the interim featherweight champion at the time, defeated Aldo, the reigning featherweight champion, via first-round knockout in just 13 seconds.
One of McGregor’s best UFC performances arguably came from his effort versus Aldo. “The Notorious” foresaw Aldo’s exact response and manner of victory before the bout even began. Regretfully, McGregor has been different from the guy who faced opponents like Eddie Alvarez and Jose Aldo in his last few bouts.

After a three-year hiatus from the sport, Conor McGregor will return to a weight class where he has already competed three times. To cap it all, during his battle with Dustin Poirier, “The Notorious” sustained one of the worst injuries ever seen on live television. Even though many unknowns surround McGregor’s comeback, former UFC champion Jose Aldo believes “great things” will come from him.

In a recent interview with “MMA Junkie,” former opponent Jose Aldo discussed his feelings regarding McGregor’s comeback in UFC 303. Aldo mentioned it and stated,
“I have great expectations for that fight. And as I always say I always root for the guys who I fought and the guys who have beat me because that just proves that I lost to the best. And that I lost to the champion. I hope he can go in there and be the Conor of old, and go in there to finish the fight and not leave it to the judges. I expect great things from that fight.”
