UFC 300 is upon us and Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira is set to take on Jamahal Hill in the main event. Alex Pereira was a former kickboxing champion who is well known for his knockout pedigree. He won all of his first four fights in the company capturing the Middleweight title in the process. There are not many who can do what Pereira has done withing the initial few fights of his career.
Alex Pereira has gone on to win multiple titles in the Glory kickboxing championship. Currently he also won the light Heavyweight title in a rather impressive fashion.
Alex Pereira’s incredible run at the UFC ahead of UFC 300
Alex Pereira currently hold the light Heavyweight title ahead of UFC 300 where he is set to defend his belt for the very first time against Jamahal Hill. Alex Pereira won the first two fights of his MMA career before the UFC in a foreign MMA organization. He made his much awaited debut in 2021 against Andreas Michailidis.
Pereira beat out Andreas in a thrilling three round fight in his very first UFC appearance. Then Alex had a difficult challenge in front of him in the form of Bruno Silva. Silva is a well known grappler and neutralized his grappling with his phenomenal striking. This was the first time Pereira was facing a wrestler and came out of the fight with flying colors.
Alex Pereira then took on former champion Sean Strickland and was able to put him away in the first round after knocking him out with a left hook. Pereira then met with his old rival Israel Adesanya and was able to finish him in the fifth round and became the champion of the UFC. In his second outing against Adesanya he got knocked out in the second round and lost his championship belt.
Alex Pereira moved up to the light Heavyweight division and once again became a champion when he knocked out Jiri Prohachazka in the second round. It’ll be interesting to see him at the UFC 300.
