The Light Heavyweight division of the UFC will always be an exciting division. Alex Pereira beat out Jiri Prohachazka in a thrilling bout. Alex was able to knock Jiri out in the second round of their fight to claim the light Heavyweight title of the world. The Brazilian has got a totally different challenge in front of him this time around. He is set to take on Jamahal Hill in the main event of the UFC 300 card.
Jamahal Hill became the champion after beating Glover Teixeira in a spectacular five-round bout. But he later had to give it up as he suffered an injury when he tore his calf muscle while playing basketball. Given below are the ways Hill can implement in his game plan which might make him victorious.
1. Grappling
It’s a well known fact that Alex Pereira being an elite kickboxer has got sub-par grappling ability. Hill might want to use his wrestling credentials to take Alex down and finish him or inflict some heavy damage on the ground.
2. Knockout
Israel Adesanya scored his last victory against Alex Pereira after he knocked him out in the second round of their fight. Israel played Possum while Alex was being aggressive. Adesanya replied with a perfectly timed counter right which shut down Alex’s lights. Hill can take inspiration from his middleweight counterpart and cause a massive upset in the main event of UFC 300.
3. Maintaining Distance
Jamahal Hill wouldn’t want to come in Alex’s range as there is always a threat of getting knocked out by the two-division champion. He should be willing to repeat what he did against Glover when he got into a five-round sluggish war and won via unanimous decision. Hill might want to use his previous tactic once more to get back his strap.
It will be interesting to see if Hill will beat the former kickboxing champion and cause a massive upset or will it be Alex who will become victorious.
