A highly anticipated matchup between Dustin Poirier and rising lightweight contender Benoit Saint-Denis is scheduled for UFC 299’s loaded bill. Dustin Poirier took home $1,470,000 in UFC 291 while Benoi Saint made around $116,000 on winning the fight against Matt Frevola in UFC 295.
The pay-per-view match is scheduled for March 8 in Miami, and even though “The Diamond” is presently placed eight sports ahead of his opponent, he is still somewhat of an underdog.
The date of UFC 299 is scheduled for March 9, 2024, at Miami, Florida’s Kaseya Center. A rematch for the UFC Bantamweight Championship between Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera is the headline event. Furthermore, Dustin Poirier and Benoît Saint Denis will compete in a lightweight five-round match in the co-main event.
Many believe that the Miami melee could be the time when the 155-pound division’s shark tank changes leadership. And while Poirier acknowledges that his career filled with battle is coming to a close, he does not currently have any intentions to retire after taking on Saint-Denis.
Dustin Poirier told the TMZ:
“Where I’m at, 35 years old, this is my 30th fight in the UFC. Every fight could be it.”

UFC 299: Dustin Poirier Paycheck Decrease Against Benoit Saint Denis If He Loses
When Poirier squares off against Benoit Saint-Denis, it will be the first time in a long time that he is facing someone far down in the rankings.
The fan favourite, who is keen to demonstrate that he can still compete with the division’s rising talent, is taking a significant chance with his title hopes. It can be assumed, that if he loses the match against his fellow opponent, it really could have an impact on his purse for his future matches.
Since losing his battle for the BMF title against Justin Gaethje at UFC 291 in August of last year, Poirier has not entered the octagon.
He had won four of his previous five octagon bouts, including back-to-back TKO victories over longtime adversary Conor McGregor, before that defeat.
