Dana White has built plenty of strong relationships throughout his career with stars such as Conor McGregor and Jon Jones. But not all have been smooth, with some, like Tito Ortiz, falling apart over time. One particularly notable falling-out is with veteran journalist Ariel Helwani, who has had a long-standing feud with White. Interestingly, it now appears that Saudi Arabia’s Turki Alalshikh is looking to step in and try to end the tension between the UFC president and Helwani, possibly bringing them back on better terms.
A few months ago, Turki Alalshikh, who has been instrumental in bringing a wave of combat sports events to Saudi Arabia in recent years, had a conversation with MMA reporter Ariel Helwani. During their chat, Turki expressed his desire to start a new relationship and accomplish what many might think is impossible, hinting at mending fences between Helwani and White.
He stated, “A small direct message for you, when you finish your fight with Dana White, we want to see you together. I have a direct message now to Dana White, and to you. It is time to turn the page and beginning new page.”
His Excellency also mentioned that if Helwani attends the event, he wants him to sit with both him and Dana White to resolve their issues. He added, “I’ll do my best, but I think he’s a smart guy,” expressing optimism about mending the relationship. Now, it will be interesting to see if he brings Helwani to the Sphere, as one old rival hinted at attending UFC 306.
