Sean O’Malley impressed everyone when he fought and beat Marlon Vera in UFC 299. He put up an absolute clinic. Marlon Vera had no answer to O’Malley’s superior striking ability. Malley put the division on notice that there is a reason he holds the bantamweight strap. O’Malley might be an elite striker but he has had trouble dealing with opponents with grappling pedigree. Lightweight contender Renato Moicano made it clear that as phenomenal a striker Sean is he will most probably lose to one particular fighter in the Bantamweight division.
Renato Moicano points out Sean O’Malley’s opponent that he’ll lose to
Renato Moicano heaped some heavy praise on Sean O’Malley as he put an all-time great performance when he beat up Vera. But Renato Moicano pointed out the opponent who has got the best chance to put O’Malley to sleep if they ever fight in the UFC. Moicano said,
He can definitely beat everybody in the 135 but Merab is a tough fight for him.
He praised Sean on his superior striking but made sure to warn him that he’s going to have trouble dealing with the striking of Merab Dvalishvili. Merab is known for his relentless ability to stalk someone and attempt a takedown. He caused Petr Yan immense amount of trouble in his fight. Petr Yan who many believe won against Sean O’Malley in the first fight would have trouble against Sean in the second one given how much the champ has improved since.
It’ll be interesting to see for how long does Sean holds the belt given the elite fighters that are getting up at the Bantamweight division. He admitted that he’ll need to fight Merab Dvalishvili next given his consistent performances and an impressive win streak.
It’ll be interesting to see when does Sean actually put on gloves as he fought recently in the UFC 299. Merab Dvalishvili would love to have a go at the title as his style is a bad matchup for the champion. It remains to be seen who comes out on top as MMA has surprised us all in the previous few months.
