Jon Jones’ next fight has become one of the biggest mysteries, with fans and fighters offering different opinions. Some believe UFC Interim Champion Tom Aspinall should get the shot, while others, including the current UFC Heavyweight Champion, disagree. However, Aspinall thinks he has the inside track. He hinted that Dana White gave him a wink and a nod at UFC 309, suggesting he might be next in line to face Jones.
After his victory, Jones shared that he wanted to deliver the fight fans were hoping for, and many believe that means facing Tom Aspinall. While talking to UFC 309 on TNT Sports, Aspinall revealed that he and Dana White exchanged eye contact during Jones’ discussion about upcoming opponents. Interim Champ mentioned that UFC Boss gave him some “nods and winks,” suggesting that his chance to challenge Jones might soon become a reality.
He stated, “I was getting a few nods and winks of the boss’s when Jon Jones was talking about the next fight. That means a lot to me, and not only that, I spoke to UFC brass this week. Both guys were talking about – ‘this is going to be the biggest heavyweight fight in UFC history – absolutely no doubt about it’.”
Meanwhile, Jones clarified that he wanted to face Alex Pereira next. He stated that if the UFC wants him to fight again, it has to be against Pereira; otherwise, he won’t return to the octagon.
