The UFC recently announced that Conor McGregor is supposed to take on Michael Chandler in June. Conor last featured in the Octagon about three years back against Dustin Poirier when he broke his leg at the end of the first round of their bout. McGregor made it clear that he doesn’t plan on retiring and will beat out Chandler soon. Conor and Chandler were both champions a couple of years back, and the duo is looking to get back in the win column and back to winning ways.
Here, we look at how McGregor can beat Chandler in their bout in June.
1. Conor McGregor’s precise striking
Conor is known for his sensational, precise strikes in the company. With his precision, Conor can put anyone’s lights out in the UFC. McGregor previously knocked out Michael Chandler with a straight left on his jaw in the very first round. If Conor can catch Chandler in the first few minutes of their bout, he could put an end to their matchup.
2. Taking the fight to the distance
Conor McGregor has fought in a couple of five-round bouts in his career. Michael Chandler is known for gassing out in his fights. He uses a ton of power on his punches whenever he features in the octagon in the first round. Michael goes all out every time, and if Conor can make him fight a five-round fight, Chandler will be tired after the first few rounds, and Conor can end their fight after a couple of rounds.
3. Using Grappling
Dustin Poirier gave everyone a blueprint on how to beat the monster in Michael Chandler. Poirier let Chandler do his thing and absorbed some of his strikes in the initial few rounds. Later, Poirier took Chandler down and choked him out spectacularly in the championship rounds. Conor might want to be safe in the initial few round of their bout and later use his grappling to end their fight on the ground via submission.
