The hype around the upcoming title fight between Islam Makhachev and Arman Tsarukyan is real, and it’s going to be a tough battle for both fighters. While Makhachev’s career stats are insane, Tsarukyan could definitely turn things around. To boost Makhachev’s confidence ahead of the fight, Team Khabib’s coach dropped a powerful speech.
Makhachev’s coach, Javier Mendez, delivered a powerful speech to motivate him. Mendez stressed that if Makhachev’s ultimate goal is to be the best in the world, every decision and action must align with that objective. In a recent UFC-embedded video on YouTube, fans got a glimpse of the lightweight champion pushing himself hard in training to defend his title. In the video, Mendez told Makhachev,
“If the best you’re gonna be is world champion, everything you do needs to be for that one particular goal to be the best you can be. Islam you’re gonna break the four fight legacy thing of being the only lightweight that has five total title wins, you will be that guy”

Islam Makhachev Sets Sights On Second Belt After Defending Lightweight Title At UFC 311
Makhachev, one of the top lightweight champions, has made it clear that he’s aiming for double-champ status. While he’s not planning to move up to welterweight just yet, he’s determined to eventually target that second title, even though his teammate Belal Muhammad holds the welterweight belt. In a chat with streamer Adin Ross, Makhachev shared his ambition, saying,
“This is my dream, but we have Belal there. He’s gonna defend his belt soon. But with Belal, we have the same manager, Ali [Abdelaziz]. We will sit and talk, this is my dream to be double-champ. I don’t want to leave this sport before I take a second belt.”

Makhachev is focused on defending his lightweight title against Tsarukyan, but he’s already eyeing a second belt. If Belal Muhammad still holds the welterweight title when Makhachev moves up, he may have to face his teammate. First, though, Makhachev must defend his title. Time will tell if he can achieve his double-champ dream.
