Islam Makhachev had a fairly easy victory in the UFC 311 main event. Defending his belt against Renato Moicano, the champion submitted the Brazilian in the very first round. However, in reality, the bout was supposed to be an intriguing affair. With Arman Tsarukyan pitted to face off against Makhachev, he had to pull out of an injury at the very last moment. And this is something that team Makhachev is sympathizing with.
In a recent interaction with ‘Submission Radio’, Makhachev’s coach, Javier Mendez, said that Tsarukyan should be given another chance. He also wished that no other fighter should suffer such a heartbreak right before a big career moment.
“I feel bad for him because no fighter should have to go through what that poor guy did…He trained so hard for this, earned the right to fight for the title, deserving the right to fight for the title, and only be out because of an injury, not because of anything else. I hope the UFC gives him that opportunity,” said Mendez.
Mendez further explained how the situation reminded him about Khabib Nurmagomedov. Meanwhile, Dana White has some completely different plans for the Armenian fighter.
Dana White Wants Arman Tsarukyan To Go Back To The Drawing Board
White is a tough boss. Arman Tsarukyan got his chance to clinch the lightweight title from Makhachev. Unfortunately, his injury might make him pay dearly. Speaking about Tsarukyan’s future in the UFC, the head honcho mentioned that he will have to start from scratch again.
“He’s going back to the drawing board. He’s not getting the title shot, that means he’s going to have to fight his way back to the title,” Dana White said.

Surely, things are not looking great for Tsarukyan at the moment. However, considering the level of talent the Armenian has, it is quite possible for him to burst into the championship scene once again shortly.
