Alex Pereira, the current UFC light heavyweight champion, has been making some noise lately. He’s been eyeing a transition to the sweet science of boxing. The man has got fists like sledgehammers and a left hook that could knock out anyone. But Dana White, the UFC’s head honcho, has once again played the role of dream crusher. This time, he’s set his sights on Pereira’s boxing ambitions.
White is not having any of it. He has maintained that he was not interested in doing crossover events, and Alex Pereira is no exception. The UFC CEO has made it clear that he wants his fighters to stay in their lane.
“I don’t know, I’m not even thinking about that kind of stuff. I’m not thinking about cross-over fights, I hate cross-over fights. I respect the fact that [Alex] wants to do it… but I want everybody to stay in their own lane,” said White while talking to Kevin Iole.
There was a time when Conor McGregor stepped into the boxing ring with Floyd Mayweather. That was a spectacle for the ages. It was also a financial spectacle that made everyone involved very, very happy. Fans would think that success would have softened Dana’s stance on crossover events. But nope. He is sticking to his guns.
White’s reasoning is simple. He claimed that he was not even thinking about that kind of stuff. Moreover, there is another factor at play. Dana White does not want to lose his star fighters to boxing if they see some success in it.
Dana White Not Concerned About Conor McGregor’s Antics Till 2025
Conor McGregor is the gift that keeps on giving to MMA fans. The Irish superstar has been out of action since 2021, but he’s certainly not out of the spotlight. Recently, he made waves with his social media antics. He’s been puffing cigars and sipping his own branded stout like there’s no tomorrow. Fans have been raising eyebrows, but Dana White doesn’t seem concerned.

The UFC CEO seemed about least concerned with McGregor’s shenanigans. When asked about McGregor’s recent livestream by Kevin Iole, White’s response was classic. He believed that what ‘The Notorious’ does right now does not concern him.
“I didn’t see the livestream…..I said that Conor wasn’t fighting till 2025. It is October 1st of 2024. Conor McGregor has plenty of time.”
Dana White is playing the role of a laid-back parent. He believes that Conor McGregor has many months to clean up his act before he returns to the octagon. But, McGregor will be McGregor, and there is no saying what he will do next.
