Dustin Poirier has shrugged off the idea of a fourth fight against Conor McGregor. Poirier and McGregor have had one of the best rivalries in the UFC.
The two have fought each other three times. In their first fight, it was McGregor who emerged victorious. However, the next two fights were won by Poirier.
While there was some talk surrounding a potential fourth fight between the two, it looks like Dustin Poirier is not interested at all. During a recent conversation, Poirier claimed that he doesn’t want a fourth fight and said:
“I think that ship has sailed. All I want is the UFC lightweight championship. I don’t feel the need to fight [Conor] again at all. I don’t need that [bad] energy in my life.”

Ahead of the fight, Poirier has suggested that this could prove to be his last fight. He said:
“It could be [my last fight]. I haven’t made an official decision yet, but it could be. I’ve said this over and over again, I still have a lot of tread on the tires. I can beat these young guys, I just did it… it’s just like, how much do I want to give to this sport, because you don’t ride for free…”
That said, it remains to be seen as to whether Dustin Poirier decides to retire or continue fighting following his UFC 302 fight against Islam Makhachev.
