Belal Muhammad’s hopes of being an active champion appear to be slipping away. Shavkat Rakhmonov claims that Muhammad declined a fight offer for UFC 307. Rakhmonov, a top contender for a title shot against ‘Remember the Name,’ revealed that the fight won’t happen at UFC 307 because Muhammad isn’t ready.
Muhammad, who won the welterweight title by defeating Leon Edwards via unanimous decision, has since been involved in online feuds with several MMA stars, including Kamaru Usman and Shavkat Rakhmonov. Both fighters are eyeing a title shot against Muhammad. However, during an appearance on MMA Fighting, Rakhmonov revealed that ‘Remember the Name’ turned down a fight offer for UFC 307. He said,
“Yeah, actually I’ve already been offered to fight Belal [Muhammad], and I accepted the fight against Belal. But unfortunately he declined to fight me due to the timing issues. He wasn’t ready to defend his belt on that time. So, we’ll see what’s going to happen and when he’s going to be ready, so I’ll be able to fight him.”
Meanwhile, the welterweight division is filled with drama as both Kamaru Usman and Shavkat Rakhmonov are hoping for the gold. However, ‘Nomad’ believes he deserves the title contender spot more than ‘The Nigerian Nightmare.’
Shavkat Rakhmonov Claims He Deserves Title Shot Against Belal Muhammad
Rakhmonov challenged Belal Muhammad on Twitter for his first title defense while also taking a jab at ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ for his three-fight losing streak. Rakhmonov argued that his superior record makes him more deserving of a title shot. In his tweet, he wrote,
“18-0 with 100% finishes or 0-3 in the last three fights. I think there should be no question who fights next for the title.”

Belal Muhammad has also shown interest in becoming a two-division champion. If he pursues this goal, he would likely move up to middleweight, as dropping to lightweight would involve facing his friend Islam Makhachev, a fight Muhammad has said he won’t take. As for his next fight, fans eagerly await to see who his next opponent will be, but it’s still uncertain.
