Being undefeated in the MMA world is a big deal. Aside from Khabib Nurmagomedov, no one in the UFC has remained undefeated after so many fights. But Shavkat Rakhmonov is in a league of his own—nobody has found a crack in his game, and he has not tasted defeat yet. While he prepares for his title bout with Belal Muhammad, he is already eyeing what could be his next major fight against none other than Islam Makhachev.
Recently, Dana White officially announced UFC 310, at which Rakhmonov will face Belal Muhammad for the Welterweight title. Makhachev has not moved up to the upper division since his close friend Muhammad is the champion, and he is not looking to fight him. However, if Rakhmonov snags the belt, that could open the door for a future clash with Makhachev. So, when asked if the Kazakh fighter would be up for that challenge, he confidently stated that he was ready to fight.
In his words, “If Islam himself wants to fight, why not? If he has a desire to move up, I won’t refuse.”
At the moment, Rakhmonov has an impressive 18-0 record, finishing every fighter he has faced. In contrast, Makhachev has enjoyed a stellar career with just one loss, proving to be nearly unstoppable since then. A fight between these two elite fighters would definitely be a dream matchup for fans to see who comes at the top.
Shavkat Rakhmonov Isn’t Underestimating Belal Muhammad
There’s no denying that few in the UFC receive more hate than the current Welterweight champ, Belal Muhammad. Many fans consider him a boring fighter and question his worthiness. However, unlike the critics, Rakhmonov recognizes Muhammad’s exceptional skills, knowing it won’t be easy to get past him. That’s why he’s training hard to bring his A-game.
He stated, “My opponent is really good. You can’t underestimate Belal Muhammad. He’s great at stalling fights. He has a great technique. I don’t think it will be an easy fight for me. I will do my best in this fight. I will give everything I have in this fight.”
