Shannon Sharpe on Conor McGregor taking on Islam Makhachev
Shannon Sharpe is one of the biggest superstars in the NFL world, having won two championship rings in his career. He currently is one of the anchors on the famous ESPN show First Take. When asked about whether Makhachev should take on Conor McGregor in the near future, Shannon said,
This young man is so great. He took Poirier down. Even though Poirier thwarted a lot of those attempts, he eventually got it. We remember waht happened with Khabib. This kid here is an animal.
Sharpe clarified that he has no interest in seeing Conor McGregor take on Islam Makhachev in the cage. Sharpe reasoned that Islam is too good for the Irish superstar in the octagon. He heaped some heavy praise on Islam’s grappling pedigree and claimed that he was going to take down McGregor in a fight between them easily.
The NFL Hall of Famer mentioned what happened in the Khabib fight and how Nurmagomedov was able to dominate Conor throughout the fight and finish him there. The ESPN anchor believed something similar would happen if The Mac will take on Islam Makhachev in the octagon.
