Immediately after his victory at UFC Vegas 95, heavyweight Jailton Almeida called out Serghei Spivac for a match. Spivac, who achieved one of the biggest wins of his career by defeating Marcin Tybura with a first-round armbar choke, has climbed higher in the division. In response, Spivac didn’t hold back and fired back at Almeida’s challenge.
Initially, Spivac did not call out any future opponents. However, Almeida took the initiative and challenged Spivac, asking if ‘Polar Bear’ wanted to face someone ranked above him on X. He wrote, “Spivac, do you want someone above you in the rankings? I’m here!! #7 vs #8. I want to fight, Bro! Happy you got the finish early, so we can fight soon!”
Almeida expressed his desire to fight Spivac soon. However, Spivac responded straightforwardly to Almeida’s callout when asked about it, and he didn’t hold back: “Let him train,” Spivac said. Fans can now anticipate another heavyweight clash in the future.
Is Jailton Almeida the Perfect Matchup for Serghei Spivac?
Spivac is currently ranked 9th in the heavyweight division, while Almeida holds the 7th spot. If this fight happens, both fighters could see a significant rise in the heavyweight rankings. With one or two more victories, the winner of this bout could be in a prime position for a title shot.
For now, Spivac will enjoy his additional bonuses, including a $50,000 Performance of the Night award for his victory over Tybura. Whether he will face Almeida or not remains to be seen. The potential matchup depends on UFC matchmakers, and while fans are eager for it, the outcome is uncertain.
