Fans love a good rematch, and now Sean Strickland is looking to run it back with his former rival, Dricus Du Plessis. With his eyes set on the UFC middleweight title, ‘Tarzan’ has teamed up with Alex Pereira. However, Strickland fired shots at Du Plessis in a recent Instagram post, setting the stage with a time and date for their next war.
Du Plessis took the middleweight belt from Sean Strickland back in January and successfully defended it against Israel Adesanya this past Saturday at UFC 305. Right after ‘Stillknocks’ secured his win over Adesanya, ‘Tarzan’ wasted no time calling out Du Plessis for a rematch.
Recently, the American fighter joined the UFC 307 fight camp, training alongside ‘Poatan,’ and shared a photo on Instagram. In the caption of that post, Strickland referred to Du Plessis as ‘Dutchman,’ nodding to his Dutch ancestry through the Afrikaner ethnic group in South Africa, writing:
“@cesinha_almeida and @alexpoatanpereira ready for wars… Let’s go Dutch man.. we’re waiting for him to say when… it’s time Dutchman”
Currently, no official announcements have been made by the UFC regarding a Strickland vs. Du Plessis fight. However, with ‘Tarzan’ currently holding the number one middleweight contender spot, there’s a strong chance the fight could happen. Strickland is already getting ready for it, training alongside Alex Pereira in preparation for the potential clash.

Pereira is gearing up for his third fight of the year, defending his light heavyweight title against Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307. Moreover, many consider Rountree one of the toughest opponents Pereira has faced so far.
This time, ‘Poatan’ aims to avoid pushing himself beyond his limits. Additionally, fans are eagerly anticipating high-level action from Pereira after teaming up with Strickland, but only time will tell if this partnership will prove effective.
