Sean Strickland was on the moon when he beat Israel Adesanya to win the UFC middleweight title. Unfortunately, his happiness did not last long enough. Facing off against Dricus Du Plessis, ‘Tarzan’ could not defend his title, causing a significant stir in the UFC community. Although he claimed that the judges’ decision seemed questionable, the damage was already done. And now, as he gears up for his rematch, Strickland has revealed yet another shocking truth about the match.
Speaking with Brett Okamoto, ‘Tarzan’ accused Du Plessis of headbutting him on the left eye. This caused a lot of bleeding, affecting Strickland’s vision significantly.
“I remember there’s a moment I wiped my blood out of my eye, and I’m like I can’t see…so it’s like the moment that left eye goes, you’re just like everything is just different…I can’t see a punch,” said Strickland to ESPN MMA.
He further pointed out that it was his striking coach, Ray Sefo’s pep talk that kept him going. Meanwhile, ahead of his much awaited rematch with ‘Stillknocks,’ Strickland has a unique proposal for the champion.
