Due to the long hair, one fan sarcastically remarked that he is Sean Strickland.
Fans quickly made the picture go viral on social media. However, the former middleweight champ has not commented on the old photo. Meanwhile, ‘Tarzan’ is now aiming for a title shot against the current middleweight champion, Dricus Du Plessis.
Sean Strickland Trains with Alex Pereira for His Next Fight
After Du Plessis captured the middleweight title from Sean Strickland in January, he successfully defended it against Israel Adesanya at UFC 305. Immediately after ‘Stillknocks’ secured his win, ‘Tarzan’ wasted no time calling for a rematch. Additionally, Strickland joined the UFC 307 training camp alongside ‘Poatan’ and shared a photo on Instagram. In the caption, he referred to Du Plessis as ‘Dutchman’ to acknowledge his Afrikaner roots, writing:
“@cesinha_almeida and @alexpoatanpereira ready for wars… Let’s go, Dutch man.. we’re waiting for him to say when… it’s time Dutchman”
Du Plessis has yet to respond to Strickland’s callout, but fans can expect this fight to happen since Strickland is the No. 1 middleweight contender. This matchup is poised to be the next big event; however, the timing and location remain uncertain as the UFC has not officially confirmed the fight. Fans will have to wait for an official announcement.
