A good old-fashioned rematch between two similarly matched fighters is something to get excited for. And when it comes to rematches, the one between Sean Strickland and Dricus du Plessis is shaping up to be a doozy. Now, as talks of a rematch heat up, Strickland is laying down the law. He’s made it clear that he won’t be heading to Du Plessis’ home turf of South Africa.
Strickland, never one to mince words, has been vocal about where he wants this fight to take place. The outspoken middleweight is adamant that the rematch will happen on American soil.
“We will be fighting in the land of the free… You’re not ducking me Dutch man……… I know you’re going to try…. it’s not happening….. Dana white “you’re next in line” Were bringing it back to America and the belt is staying back in America! “ wrote Strickland.
Strickland wasn’t done yet. He listed off a series of reasons why he’s not keen on fighting in South Africa. From high unemployment rates to crime statistics, Strickland painted a less-than-flattering picture of du Plessis’ homeland. He further threw in a jab about inequality and racial tensions for good measure. It seems he’s determined to ruffle as many feathers as possible.
Their first encounter was a closely contested battle at UFC 297 that left fans clamoring for more. Du Plessis emerged victorious, but many felt ‘Tarzan‘ deserved the nod. So, will it be “The Land of the Free” or “The Rainbow Nation” that hosts this epic rematch? Only time will tell.

Dricus Du Plessis Favors Robert Whittaker Over Sean Strickland For The Title Shot
The reigning Middleweight champion recently stirred the pot with a surprising statement about who deserves the next crack at his belt. He raised eyebrows by suggesting that Robert Whittaker is more deserving of a title shot. This comes as a shock to many, considering the heated rivalry between du Plessis and Strickland.
The South African champion didn’t mince words when discussing the matter. Dricus Du Plessis went on to explain his reasoning, stating that Whittaker was being passed over in the current situation.
“Robert Whittaker deserves the shot. I think he’s being done over… Sean Strickland’s only saving grace is the fact that he went a decision with me… but Whittaker is definitely the one that’s being done over in this, in my opinion. He’s more deserving, but, you know, life’s not fair,” said Du Plessis at the UFC 305 post-fight press conference.
The champion’s comments have sent shockwaves through the MMA community. Interestingly, Dricus Du Plessis seems to be aware of the marketability of a Strickland rematch. But fans are anticipating what the champion’s next defense would be. Will it be the “Bobby Knuckles” show or the Strickland revenge tour?
