Sean O’Malley caught Aljamain Sterling with a perfect right hand and rolled to a TKO finish in Round 2 to capture the bantamweight crown at UFC 292 over the weekend.
The bantamweight star is a superstar. Not only was his knockout on SportsCenter, but for the first time in the promotion’s history, a full fight video was put on YouTube.
Now, the 28-year-old O’Malley is renewing his public interest in a boxing match with Gervonta “Tank” Davis.
“I also wouldn’t mind knocking out Gervonta Davis, and I know people are gonna go, ‘Ahh, you want to be Conor (McGregor),” he said at the post-fight press conference. “I’m telling you, that fight is going to happen.”
He also made sure to show everybody he was smoking a huge joint shortly after his victory.

Davis’ most recent opponent, Ryan Garcia, offered some blunt advice to O’Malley after the call-out:
If the money is there, and it will be, the UFC and PBC will gladly make this bout happen. We all saw what happened and how much money was exchanged when Floyd Mayweather took on Conor McGregor.
If it does happen while O’Malley is the reigning UFC champion, it’s a monster commercial event. Both fighters have a major fan base and they generate a ton of buzz.
O’Malley is in the prime of his career and trying to pull a page from his MMA peers and looking to land a highly lucrative boxing match. You cannot blame him from trying to cash in.
