Sean O’Malley has laid down the law for mending fences with Conor McGregor. The once-admiring relationship between the two fighters has soured in recent months. This came after several harsh comments from either side.
O’Malley isn’t mincing words when it comes to mending their relationship. He wants a heartfelt apology from the Irish superstar. In a recent interview with Helen Yee, O’Malley addressed the McGregor situation.
“I am over it. If Conor wants to message me and apologize, we can be boys. If not, I am not looking for more friends. I am not too worried about it,” said O’Malley.
The rift began when McGregor dragged O’Malley into a controversy involving Ryan Garcia. McGregor accused both fighters of using performance-enhancing drugs. This dig didn’t sit well with ‘Suga’. O’Malley’s reaction was swift and emotional as he publicly denounced his former idol on his podcast.
The falling out is a far cry from their previous interactions. In 2021, McGregor even approached O’Malley about joining his management agency, Paradigm Sports. Now, O’Malley seems content to let sleeping dogs lie. The champ isn’t actively seeking reconciliation but left the door open.

Known for his colorful hair and knockout power, O’Malley once idolized McGregor. He even studied the Irishman’s fights to prepare for his own bouts. But times have changed, and the admiration has soured into a bitter rivalry.
“It’s almost because you go back all my interviews like ‘I want to be like Conor, I want to do what Conor did, I want to do what Conor did.’ Now, I’m 29, defended the belt – something he’s never done by the way – and I just feel pure jealousy from it. It’s really weird because times change,” said O’Malley in an interview with ESPN MMA.
O’Malley’s rise has been meteoric, reminiscent of McGregor’s early career. But ‘Suga’ isn’t just mimicking his predecessor; he’s carving his own path. He’s already accomplished something McGregor never did – a successful title defense. As the UFC landscape shifts, one question remains: Is there room for two king-sized egos in the octagon? Only time, and perhaps a few more Twitter spats, will tell.
