Since his entry in the UFC, Sean O’Malley was billed to be the next Conor McGregor. Moreover, with his victory over Aljamain Sterling for the UFC bantamweight championship, he has cemented himself as one of the biggest stars in the sport.
However, O’Malley still has a long way to go before he can achieve the level of stardom that McGregor has. Interestingly, he has a blueprint in mind to achieve that feat. During a recent interview, Megan Olivi, ‘Sugar’ spoke about how he wants to be as big as the Irishman. He said:
“I think I go out there and put two beautiful performances together, I will be as big as Conor. The UFC’s grown 40, 50% since Conor really was in his prime. That COVID really boosted the UFC, so I have a lot more eyeballs, a lot more opportunity to become, you know, more of a star. When I say stuff like that, people are always like, ‘Oh, you’re a wannabe Conor.’ He’s the biggest star in combat sports, of course, I would want to be as big as him.”
