Sean O’Malley, the UFC’s bantamweight champion, is brimming with confidence as he gets ready for his second title defense. But the fight is not all he is confident about, and he’s ready to steal the show.
On September 14, 2024, two major combat sports events will clash. In one corner, we have Noche UFC. On the other, a highly anticipated boxing match featuring Canelo Alvarez. But O’Malley isn’t sweating the competition. In fact, he’s relishing it. The charismatic fighter recently shared his thoughts on his podcast.
“When it comes to Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, who are they talking about? Are they talking about Canelo, are they talking about the boxing fight, or are they talking about the absolute dominating, beautiful, masterful, masterclass performance I put on Merab and the viral knockout that came with it?” said O’Malley.
O’Malley faces a tough challenge in Merab Dvalishvili at UFC Noche. Yet, he’s already thinking about the aftermath. His confidence is so infectious that it’s hard not to get caught up in his enthusiasm. Canelo, on the other hand, will be fighting the undefeated Edgar Berlanga.
Both these events are vying to steal the fans from each other and come out on top. It remains to be seen whether the punching action of the Canelo fight or the full-on mixed martial arts display of UFC Noche will sway the fans more towards itself.
