Dana White, the UFC’s bold CEO, has once again set the MMA world ablaze. This time, it’s not about a blockbuster fight announcement or a controversial decision. Instead, White’s fury is aimed at the UFC’s own pound-for-pound rankings. The target of his fury? Jon Jones’ position at number three.
White didn’t mince words in a recent interview with Kevin Iole. He went off on the Pound for Pound rankings, believing that this was absurd. His argument was that Jon Jones should be #1 on the any P4P list.
“Jon Jones is ranked #3 pound-for-pound in the world. That’s the most f***ing ridiculous, embarrassing, stupid, know nothing about f***ing fighting ranking of all f***ing time,” said White.
But why is White so worked up? It’s simple: he believes Jones is unequivocally the best in the world. In his view, “Bones” should be perched atop the pound-for-pound throne. White’s passion for Jones’ abilities is evident in his statements hailing Jones in the past months.
Currently, Islam Makhachev and Alex Pereira occupy the top two spots. Both are undoubtedly exceptional fighters with impressive resumes. However, White isn’t swayed by their recent accomplishments. He maintains that Jones’ body of work is unparalleled in combat sports history. But Jones has had four fights in the last six years. His inactivity is what dropped him down in the rankings. For context, Pereira has fought nine times in three years, and Makhachev has fought eight times in three years.
Dana White Reveals Setting Jon Jones Fight In November
White has finally broken his silence about one of the most sought-after topics in the MMA community, the highly anticipated return of heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Fans have been eagerly awaiting news about “Bones” since his injury last year. White has dropped a bombshell that’s set the MMA world abuzz.

Dana White didn’t mince words in a recent interview with TNT Sports. He clearly revealed that he was working on getting Jones back in the Octagon in November. That looks to be UFC 309, where Jones will defend his heavyweight title.
“No secret about it. I’m planning on him [Jon Jones] fighting in November,” said White.
White seems intent on sticking to the original plan: Jones vs. Stipe Miocic. This matchup has been brewing for quite some time now. However, the landscape of the heavyweight division has shifted dramatically. Enter Tom Aspinall, the rising British star and interim heavyweight champion. However, that title unification fight may happen in the next year if Jones comes out victorious and doesn’t retire.
