Renato Moicano is steadily winning fans over with his fiery post-fight speeches, entertaining podcasts, and impressive skills in the octagon. Once considered just another fighter, Moicano now stands among the elite, especially after his recent win over Benoit Saint-Denis. Now, he’s setting his sights on Max Holloway, as easy money and eyeing a showdown for the BMF title at 155 pounds.
In a recent chat with Damon Martin, Renato Moicano hinted at a potential showdown with Max Holloway. When asked if he’d consider fighting Holloway, Moicano admitted that Martin gave him a solid idea for a post-fight callout after his upcoming clash with Beneil Dariush at UFC 311. Moicano sees the matchup as a perfect opportunity, especially since Holloway has expressed interest in competing at lightweight. He believes this fight could significantly boost his chances of earning a title shot.
“Yeah! 100% I would love to do that. Especially Max Holloway now he says he is done at 145lbs. And if he really wants to be a 155’er I think that wobe awesome fight,” he said.
Moicano is on fire with a four-fight win streak, and at 35, he knows there’s no room for error. A win over Beneil Dariush, especially in dominant fashion, could cement him as the top contender in the division. If he follows that with a victory over Max Holloway, the title shot would be almost inevitable. Moicano’s mix of sharp skills and charismatic mic work would make him a standout champ, adding some serious flavor to the division.
Laura Sanko Calls Renato Moicano Most Improved UFC Fighter Of 2024
On a recent episode of Good Guy Bad Guy, Sanko weighed in on the most improved fighters of the year. While she acknowledged Joaquin Buckley’s consistent high-level performance, she ultimately left him off the list, emphasizing that ‘improvement’ highlights significant growth over time. Instead, Sanko revealed her pick was Moicano, citing his remarkable evolution in skill, personality, and overall impact inside and outside the octagon.
“For me, it’s Renato Moicano. It’s not necessarily start the year rough but he had a long layoff and then he came back and he had a good fight with Drew Dobber (which) was absolutely insane…It’s a beautiful journey, so not only did he have winning the stoppage of Benoit Saint-Denis, a notoriously tough guy. I love the fact that he elevated himself,” she said.
