The UFC lightweight division is arguably the best in the entire MMA scene. And becoming someone in that stacked division is a win in itself. It’s like a pressure cooker of talent, ready to explode. And right in the middle of this simmering pot are two elite lightweights, Dan Hooker and Renato Moicano.
These two fighters have been circling each other for a while now. Moicano kicked things off with a spicy callout at UFC Paris after he defeated Benoit Saint-Denis. He called Hooker ‘Easy Money’. But ‘The Hangman’ had a retort of his own.
“100% they offer me a title shot of beating you it’s a done deal,” wrote Hooker on X.
The New Zealander recently had a three-round war against Mateusz Gamrot and came out victorious. This win propelled him into the upper echelons of the lightweight division, and he is now ranked at a decent #5.
Renato Moicano is no slouch, either. His verbal skills have won him victories in the UFC and outside the octagon. Both fighters have their eyes on the same prize: the title held by none other than Islam Makhachev, and they are willing to duke it out against each other to get that chance.

Moicano, though, has some quick reflexes. He accepted Hooker’s challenge and reiterated that this was all easy for him. His confidence is palpable, and this seems to be the start of a highly anticipated matchup.
“Ahahahahah title shot for me easy money!!!!” Moicano retorted via X.
Renato Moicano is even willing to settle this in December in Las Vegas. And Dan Hooker is never one to turn down a fight. Now it is up to the UFC matchmakers Mick Maynard and Sean Shelby to schedule a card pitting these two lightweights against each other.
