Fans often refer to Alex Pereira as the “Stone Hand Man,” in addition to his nickname “Poatan.” At UFC 307, Pereira lived up to that reputation by delivering one of the year’s most impressive performances, knocking out Khalil Rountree in the fourth round. However, referee Marc Goddard shared a surprising perspective, expressing his shock at the sheer force behind Pereira’s punches.
Herb Dean usually referees the main event, but this time, fans saw veteran Marc Goddard take charge. After the fight, Goddard spoke to Joe Rogan in the cage, saying that in his 20 years of refereeing, he had never heard anything like the sound of Pereira’s punches. “It’s ungodly,” Goddard emphasized. Rogan later recounted,
“I was in the octagon after the fight and Marc Goddard came up to me and he said, I’ve been doing this for 20 years and he goes the way he hits people, the sound is like nothing I’ve ever heard before, It’s ungodly”
However, many have accused ‘Poatan’ of using black magic before his fights. Fighters like Jiri Prochazka and Israel Adesanya have claimed they felt something unusual while facing the Brazilian. Just before UFC 307, Adesanya recently revealed that Pereira seeks supernatural help ahead of his bouts.
Israel Adesanya Says Alex Pereira Looks for Supernatural Guidance Before His Fights
Just before UFC 307, Israel Adesanya made a surprising statement, backing claims that his rival, Alex Pereira, may have some form of supernatural assistance. He echoed light heavyweight fighter Jiri Prochazka’s earlier accusation that Pereira uses “magic” in his fights. Adesanya discussed this during his appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast, The JRE. And the former middleweight champion said,
“You know what Jiri said about the whole juju thing, that’s real, that’s real… It’s his spirit, it’s whatever his ancestors or his people that are praying for him because I have prayer worries as well. My Mom and Dad be fastening and they have people in the spirit (world) praying for me.”

‘Izzy’ also noted that the way Pereira carries himself suggests he knows how to recover well. However, after UFC 303, ‘Poatan’ claimed that he didn’t engage in such practices. His recent win left fans in awe, leading many to wonder about Pereira’s next move in the division. What does the future hold for him, and who will he face next?
