The MMA world sometimes sees the most intense battles taking place on social media rather than the Octagon. Case in point: the recent dust-up between rising star Muhammad Mokaev and PFL matchmaker Mike Kogan.
It all started with a recent post from Mokaev. The undefeated flyweight, fresh off his UFC contract, took to X to express gratitude and thanked several organizations for reaching out, including the PFL. It was a gracious gesture, or so it seemed. Mokaev had written in his post that he would leverage these organizations to get back into the UFC. Mike Kogan, the PFL’s no-nonsense matchmaker, chimed in.
“This story is a lie – no one from PFL or Bellator spoke to the dude or showed even an [ounce] of interest,” wrote Kogan via Instagram stories.
Kogan didn’t mince words when he saw Mokaev‘s post. According to Kogan, Mokaev’s claim was nothing but a fabrication. He added that no one from PFL or even Bellator had shown even an ounce of interest in Mokaev. Dana had recently said that PFL would get a “great undefeated guy” after he cut Mokaev from the roster. Turns out they don’t want him either.
For now, Mokaev remains a free agent. His next move is anyone’s guess. Will he patch things up with the UFC? Find a new home in another promotion? Or maybe he’ll start his own league; only time will tell.
PFL President Not Interested In Signing Muhammad Mokaev

Once hailed as a future UFC champion, Mokaev now finds himself without a home. The UFC, in a surprising move, decided not to renew his contract. It was thought that the PFL, a rising organization in the MMA world, would surely scoop up this talented young fighter. Well, not so fast. PFL President Ray Sefo recently dropped a bombshell that sent shockwaves through the MMA community.
“I’ve spoken to people in the know, and apparently, he’s just a pain in the ass to deal with. And so, no, we’re not interested,” said Ray Sefo after PFL 7.
But wait, there’s more to this story. Mokaev quickly fired back on social media. He implied that the PFL had made offers that he’d turned down. So, what’s really going on here? Is Mokaev truly difficult to work with? Or is this all a big misunderstanding? The truth, as always, probably lies somewhere in the middle.
