The BMF title, or “Baddest Motherf***er” belt, isn’t an average championship belt. It’s got a vibe all its own. Nate Diaz fought for this unique strap in 2019 against Jorge Masvidal. Since then, the title has changed hands a couple of times. The ‘Stockton slapper’ has thrown a verbal jab at Dana White’s latest brainchild. The UFC CEO’s idea of a BMF title tournament has ruffled Diaz’s feathers.
Dana White was recently told about the four-man tournament for the BMF title. The fighters included Dan Hooker, Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway. The UFC CEO seemed pleased by this idea. However, Nate Diaz was not happy with the lineup, as he let everyone know via his Instagram story:
“@danawhite Dan and max are eligible for my belt but get the other 2 nerds out of there they don’t fit the description.”
Nate Diaz is cool with Holloway and Hooker being in the mix. But the other two? In Diaz’s words, they’re “nerds” who “don’t fit the description. His brutal honesty is part of what makes him a fan favorite. Fans never know what he willl say next, but they can bet it will be entertaining.
The BMF title isn’t just about skill. It’s about attitude, swagger, heart, and indefinable “it” factor. In Diaz’s book, Gaethje and Poirier don’t cut. But Gaethje even held the BMF title after knocking out Poirier, and ‘The Diamond’ has entertaining fights. Maybe Nate Diaz will come around about these two soon!
