Jake Shields was one of the significant UFC stars back in the day. He has taken on one of the greatest fighters in history, George St-Pierre, in the Welterweight division. Shields has a massive following of over six hundred thousand folks on his social media handle and is one of the most active fighters on social media. Jake has given his take on some of the most controversial issues bugging the world. He did the same this time when he pointed out a rather interesting take on the National Football League.
Jake is a five-time MMA world champion in the Welterweight and Middleweight divisions but has had limited success in the UFC.
Jake Shields gives out his controversial take
NFL Champion Harrison Butker recently gave a speech against homosexuality, abortion, and women in the workplace at a Catholic college in Kansas. The NFL certainly did not like what Harrison had to say in his speech and condemned him publicly. Jake Shields took an issue with the NFL condoning Butker’s words. Jake, on his social media handle on X, wrote,
The NFL is full of athletes getting DUI’s, beating their women and other crimes but this is where they draw the line
Jake Shields made it clear that many NFL stars have been accused of things far worse, like getting several DUI charges and domestic violence charges, and the league has never had an issue with them. But the league did take an issue with Butker’s words against homosexuality and abortion. Many might find Jake’s opinion problematic, as homophobia and abortion are serious issues plaguing the world.
Jake Shields has scored impressive victories over legends like Demian Maia and Tyron Woodley. Although he could never acquire gold in the UFC, he became a champion in other MMA organizations. It is yet to be seen if the NFL will have an issue with what Jake Shields had to say about the league. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Jake Shields shortly and if he decides to step into the ring again in the upcoming years.
