Brothers in the same sports are not actually a new thing. And recently, Aleksandre Topuria joined his brother Ilia Topuria to sign with Dana White’s UFC. This certainly excited some of the MMA fans, while some were doubtful if he would have a similar performance to his brother.
On August 8, Aleksandre announced on his social media handles that he had joined the UFC’s bantamweight division. Interestingly, he is one year older than Ilia and has often been in the latter’s corner.
The fighter with the moniker ‘El Conquistador’ made his MMA debut in 2015, the same year as his younger brother, Ilia. However, after he suffered his first loss later that year, the elder Topuria went on a six-year hiatus. Since returning in 2021, he has been a destructive force, winning three out of the three bouts he fought.
MMA Fans React To Ilia Topuria’s Brother Signing With Dana White’s UFC
While fans are excited about the elder Topuria’s UFC signing, they even drew drastic comparisons with his brother. One of the fans wrote in hope, “Hopefully he’s less annoying that his brother”
Another fan wrote, “Need to check out his previous fights.” For the fact, the elder Topuria has fought six times in the MMA cage. He has won five out of the six bouts and lost one against Ivo Ivanov back in 2015.

One fan jokingly urged to see the other fighter’s siblings in Dana White’s promotion. He wrote, “Now we need Adesanyas brother, Du plessis brother and khamzats brother in the UFC aswell lmao”
Fans are certainly happy to see both Topuria brothers in the UFC. One of them even went to the extent of urging for Ilia vs. Aleksandre. He wrote, “Topuria vs Topuria we will be there”
However, there was another fan who wasn’t really happy to see Aleksandre in the UFC. He claimed that the fighter didn’t have a good record and entered just because he was Ilia’s brother. The comment read, “Literally one of the worst and padded records to get signed just because he’s Ilia’s brother”
Well, there were multiple other reactions from the fans. While some were happy, some accused Ilia Topuria’s brother Aleksandre of being a nepotism signing. What-so-ever be the case, he is now part of Dana White’s UFC and will hope to leave a mark just like his brother.
