Combat sports is arguably the greatest unfiltered and violent spectacle on the planet. Athletes don’t need a specific reason to stir up drama; they can engage in banter over anything. Now, it looks like another feud is banter in the UFC, this time between two unexpected fighters: Miesha Tate and Kelvin Gastelum. The reason behind this is that Gastelum sneaks a weird look at Tate during UFC 307.
To provide some context, Tate and Gastelum were both present at the recent Alex Pereira vs. Khalil Rountree event, which featured several stars, including Merab Dvalishvili and AP Dhillon. As is typical when big names attend these events, they frequently appear on the broadcast and the Jumbotron, thanks to the Star Cam.
Meanwhile, as Tate appeared on the star cam, Gastelum was caught stealing a glance at her from behind. After noticing this, Tate took to Instagram to share a snapshot of the moment, tagging Gastelum inquiring about the reason for his weird look.
Gastelum also re-shared the post on his Instagram, which indicates that this exchange is more of a playful banter, much like the playful exchanges Dwayne Johnson often has with Kevin Hart. While it might seem like Tate was calling out Gastelum, his decision to reshare the moment suggests it was all in good fun.
Andrew Schulz Suggests UFC Stop Putting Names on Star Cam to Avoid a Kendrick Lamar-Like Incident
The last pay-per-view event generated headlines when Terrence Crawford was mistakenly identified as Kendrick Lamar on the Star Cam. Discussing this mix-up on his podcast with Charlamagne, comedian Andrew Schulz offered some advice to help the UFC avoid such blunders in the future. Schulz suggested that Dana White and his team should refrain from putting names on the star cam, as this simple change could prevent similar mistakes from happening again.
He said, “I don’t know why they ever put the name. It’s too risky putting the name. Coz if you’re famous and they put you on, people are either going to know who you are or they’re not. Don’t put the name, you’ll never f*ck up.”

So far, it seems Schulz’s advice does not reach White, and he does not appear keen on the idea, as names still display on the Star Cam. In fact, the star cam has garnered significant attention lately, often overshadowing the actual fights themselves. It seems the focus on celebrity appearances is becoming just as much of a highlight as the matches in the UFC.
