The Middleweight division of the UFC is an exciting place to be. There are a ton of contenders who have their sights set on the UFC gold. Bo Nickal is one of the company’s most exciting prospects. Nickal has never let his fight go past the second round in the company. In his last fight on the main card of UFC 300, he submitted Cody Brundage in the second round of their fight. Nickal, in an interview given recently, was seen talking about taking on Khamzat Chimaev, and he gave a rather bizarre take on the matter.
Bo Nickal is currently unbeaten in his career, and Khamzat is, too.
Bo Nickal on Khamzat Chimaev
Middleweight fighter Bo Nickal was a division one college wrestler. He’s translating his wrestling skills well into the octagon. Another wrestler known for putting his opponents on their backs and finishing them there is Khamzat Chimaev. Khamzat is a monster wrestler who finished his lower-ranked opponents in a very emphatic fashion. Nickal was asked in an interview how he thinks he’ll do against Khamzat. He replied,
I think I’d do very similarly to him what I did to my last opponent. Take him down, rag doll him, throw him around. He’s not a big 85er, he gets tired.
Nickal made it clear that he was confident that he would absolutely dominate Khamzat Chimaev and beat him before the bell rang. Nickal was seen downplaying Khamzat’s threat and did not respect Chimaev’s wrestling skills. As good as Bo Nickal is, many will agree that Khamzat is above Nickal’s opponents. Bo and Chimaev carry immense wrestling pedigrees, and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top in the future.
Khamzat will not be happy listening to what Bo says about him. Chimaev is set to fight Robert Whittaker in June. Khamzat is among the top middleweight fighters, whereas Nickal is barely ranked. Bo Nickal will have to win a few more fights to get to Khamzat Chimaev and prove his mettle. It’ll be interesting to see what happens in the company’s Middleweight division.
