The Hollywood bug has bitten the UFC. It was a well known fact that UFC superstar Conor McGregor is set to star as an antagonist in the new movie ‘Roadhouse‘ alongside movie star Jake Gyllenhaal.
Seems like Conor is not the only one who’s set to feature in the remake of the 1989 classic. Michael Chandler in an interview made a massive revelation regarding his acting career.
Michael Chandler set to make his Hollywood debut
Michael Chandler last fought in the UFC in November of 2022 when he lost out to veteran Dustin Poirier in a rather exciting clash. It’s been more than a year since we saw Chandler in the Octagon. Many believe he’s waiting for his massive payday in the form of a Conor McGregor fight. But as it turns out the former Bellator champion was busy elsewhere as he was preparing for his big screen debut. In an interview given to TMZ sports, Chandler said,
I actually filmed a scene with Gyllenhaal in the movie. A couple weeks before my last fight I flew down to the Dominican Republic and me and Jake did a fight scene together. It was basically just one of his highlights. But I wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity and I did not cross paths with Conor. I think he had just left actually. Jake’s a friend of mine. I am excited to watch the movie on Amazon Prime.
It’ll be interesting to see plausible Octagon rivals share some screen space with each other. it’ll be interesting to see MMA fighters explore opportunities outside of the fighting realm of fighting. Chandler who is known for his impressive grappling and powerful striking abilities is set to clash with Oscar nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal.
Although the MMA fans will be happy to see Chandler on the big screen, the fight community would want Chandler to return to where he truly belongs the Octagon. Michael Chandler also confirmed that he will in fact take on Conor on his return.
