For nearly a decade, Islam Makhachev has been unstoppable, with a 14-fight win streak and no opponent able to outclass him. Now, with Arman Tsarukyan emerging as Makhachev’s next potential challenger, the buzz is building that he might accomplish what no one has since 2015. However, Michael Chandler doubts the top lightweight contender can surpass Makhachev’s skill and dominance in the octagon.
In a recent interview with New York Post Sports, Chandler shared his admiration for Tsarukyan’s impressive skill set. However, he added that although Tsarukyan is talented, Makhachev’s abilities remain unmatched, making him a tough opponent for anyone in the lightweight division.
He stated, “He’s just a young, hungry dude making his presence be known, he’s matured. He’s got some great wins. His last win was over [Charles] Oliveira, my next opponent. So he’s earned this title shot… I wish him well. I think Islam absolutely smokes him, but at least he’s got great hair.”
Chandler lightheartedly joked that, at the very least, Tsarukyan has good hair, hinting that even after a potential beatdown, he’ll still look sharp. Now, with all eyes on Makhachev. And fans are eager to see if Tsarukyan’s skills and confidence can stand up to the champion’s dominance in the octagon.
