There’s always chatter about Dana White’s privilege in the UFC, a claim the head honcho constantly denies. However, recent developments suggest that if there truly is no such privilege, even champions may not get the fights they desire. Bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili, who has been vocally demanding a fight with Devison Figueiredo, saw his request go unfulfilled as the promotion booked the Brazilian for another matchup scheduled for November. This situation raises questions about how fights are prioritized within the organization.
Even before Dvalishvili became champion, whenever he was asked about who he envisioned fighting or wanted to face as champion, he always named Figueiredo. According to the bantamweight champ, the Brazilian former champ has everything needed to make a fight great. However, all the calls didn’t seem to pay off, as Figueiredo has been booked to face Petr Yan in the upcoming bout on November 23.
After calling out Figueiredo for his return bout, the Brazilian has answered. Now, Yan, a former UFC bantamweight champion, will face Figueiredo on November 23 at the Galaxy Arena in Macau. Since moving up from flyweight to bantamweight, the 36-year-old has been on a roll and has secured big wins against notable fighters like Rob Font, Cody Garbrandt, and Marlon Vera.
On the other hand, Petr Yan is looking to continue his winning run after bouncing back from three consecutive losses in March. He’s ready to put on a show against the former flyweight champion and cement his place to get a hand on the bantamweight title once again.
Merab Dvalishvili Says He’s Ready for Any Opponent UFC Fans Want Next
After months of Umar Nurmagomedov mocking Merab Dvalishvili for avoiding him, the current bantamweight champion has finally declared he’s ready to fight anyone. For those unaware, Dvalishvili has stated that he doesn’t consider Umar a deserving opponent. This prompted Khabib Nurmagomedov’s cousin to take repeated jabs at him. Meanwhile, Umar looks ready to throw down for the title against Dvalishvili.
Sharing updates about his future, he said he is ready to listen to his fans’ cheers and the calls from Dana White and Co., declaring he’s ready to take on anyone who stands in his way.

In his words, “Guys- I hear all of you! I am a company man. Whoever the UFC puts in front of me, I will fight as I always do, even if I don’t think they deserve the next shot. Let’s Go.”
A matchup between these two cardio machines and grappling specialists would be interesting to watch. Umar has been relentless in his rise, much like champion Dvalishvili. The outcome of their clash could significantly shape the future of the bantamweight division, especially in light of Sean O’Malley’s recent loss. Whoever comes out on top will have a huge impact on the bantamweight division.
