Merab Dvalishvili has been on a tear in the UFC. He has racked up an impressive ten-fight-win streak. Now, he’s eyeing that shiny bantamweight belt around O’Malley’s waist. And he’s not just aiming at his opponent, Sean O’Malley.
Dvalishvili isn’t just focused on O’Malley. He’s got beef with the champ’s coach, Tim Welch. Apparently, Welch has been running his mouth a bit too much for Dvalishvili’s liking. Now, Dvalishvili isn’t known for trash talk. But this time, he’s making an exception. He’s warned Welch that he might catch these hands outside the octagon.
“After 2020, I became a full-time fighter, moved to [Las] Vegas, and everything came. I fixed my immigration papers, and I can [fly] to my country or whatever country I want. Now I’m a citizen, and now I can slap Sean O’Malley’s coach, and no one will deport me from the U.S,” said Dvalishvili at the UFC 306 media day interview.
Dvalishvili isn’t worried about deportation anymore. Why? Because he’s now a proud U.S. citizen! That is one way to celebrate citizenship, I suppose. Uncle Sam might have some thoughts on that, though.
But just to be clear, Dvalishvili isn’t actually planning to assault anyone. He’s just expressing his frustration with Welch’s antics. Dvalishvili claimed Welch had been mocking his height and nose, and the Georgian fighter was not happy with this.

Now, fans might think all the drama would be between the fighters. But no! Merab Dvalishvili’s got beef with O’Malley’s coach. He claimed Welch has been “very disrespectful” to him.
“I have a problem with his coach, Tim. He was very disrespectful to me, and he was doing stupid and not respectful (things). Any real coach should never do that, whatever he was doing… Coach your guy, coach your fighter. Don’t be disrespectful to the opponent,” said Dvalishvili via MMA Fighting.
Welch apparently made fun of Merab Dvalishvili’s height and nose. Welch also impersonated Aljamain Sterling’s corner in the fight between Sterling and O’Malley. In the end, though, it all comes down to what happens in the octagon. Will Dvalishvili’s anger fuel him to victory? Or will O’Malley prove Welch’s predictions right? Only time will tell.
