Merab Dvalishvili has had enough of Umar Nurmagomedov’s callouts and has finally responded. At UFC 306, Dvalishvili shocked the world by dominating Sean O’Malley over five rounds in their bantamweight title clash. Now, with many speculating about his next opponent, ‘The Machine’ has recently dropped a major hint regarding a potential fight with ‘The Young Eagle.’
Previously, Dvalishvili stated that Umar Nurmagomedov doesn’t deserve a title shot and is only achieving success due to his cousin, Khabib Nurmagomedov. Additionally, during the UFC 306 post-fight press conference, Dvalishvili also mentioned that former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo would be a worthy opponent. However, it seems Umar may be next in line for a title shot, as ‘The Machine’ dropped a major hint about his next fight, writing:
“Guys- I hear all of you! I am a company man. Whoever the UFC puts in front of me, I will fight as I always do, even if I don’t think they deserve the next shot. Let’s Go”.
After dodging Umar several times, it appears Dvalishvili has accepted whatever the UFC throws his way, whether it’s Umar or another opponent. ‘The Machine’ seems determined not to turn down any fight. If Umar does end up facing Dvalishvili next, it’s sure to be a blockbuster bout in the bantamweight division. Fans will finally get to see who the top wrestler in the division truly is. However, former UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson believes that Umar might struggle to overcome ‘The Machine.’
UFC Legend Demetrious Johnson Predicts Umar Nurmagomedov Might Struggle Against Merab Dvalishvili
After defeating Sean O’Malley inside the Sphere to claim the bantamweight title, reporters quickly asked Merab Dvalishvili about the possibility of facing Umar Nurmagomedov in a title fight. However, the UFC legend Demetrious Johnson believes that the current UFC bantamweight champion, Dvalishvili, holds a major advantage over Umar in their potential clash. On his YouTube channel, ‘Mighty Mouse’ previewed the anticipated bout between ‘The Machine’ and ‘The Young Eagle,’ saying:
“This is going to be interesting because I feel his [Merab] conditioning is going to be the X-factor because we know he’s not going to stop, he’s going to be a busy bee around the Octagon to where this gentleman [Umar] has the high kicks, he’s very long, he’s very big and he also has the wrestling but he does not have the work ethic like this man [Merab].”

Mighty Mouse also pointed out that Dvalishvili possesses “bear genetics,” allowing him to relentlessly pursue his opponents, whereas Umar is more strategic in his approach. The UFC legend favors ‘The Machine’ if the fight happens. However, no official announcement has come yet. If the fight happens, it will likely be in 2025, as this year’s remaining PPV events are already booked, and Dvalishvili needs time to rest before returning to the Octagon.
