Max Holloway and Ilia Topuria have ignited one of the most exciting rivalries in recent MMA history. After Holloway defeated Justin Gaethje at UFC 300, he immediately called out Topuria for a fight, and since then, fans have been buzzing with anticipation. There has been plenty of back-and-forth banter on social media, with both fighters exchanging verbal jabs. In their first virtual meeting, ‘Blessed’ even took the opportunity to mock the featherweight champion’s English skills.
Topuria is a Georgian and Spanish MMA fighter, and ‘El Matador’ is still working on improving his English skills. During their interview, Topuria fumbled a bit, prompting Holloway to mock him for it. In response, the featherweight champion fired back, saying,
“I’m Soeaking your language, let’s talk in Spanish. Let’s talk in Georgian. Let’s talk in Russia. Let’s talk in Germany. What are you talking about”
Fighters from different parts of the world often face challenges when speaking English. However, despite the occasional controversy, both fighters have mutual respect for fighting styles.
