Max Holloway has decided to move up to the lightweight division once again. The fighter known as ‘Blessed’ has been scheduled to face Justin Gaethje, the current BMF champion, in a highly-anticipated lightweight title bout at UFC 300 on April 13, 2024.
Holloway’s decision to transition from the 145 to the 155-pound weight class is seen by many as having potential neurological and holistic advantages, as it would involve less severe dehydration during his weight cuts. Holloway has confidently responded to critics by asserting his readiness to take on anyone, including heavyweight contender Francis Ngannou.

Holloway said “I see the minds blown, everybody being like ‘wait until heavyweight, Francis Ngannou you should fight him’. Bring it on brother. You think I care? That’s why me and you guys is different.”
He also added “Even some fighters is worried about certain weights, why? If you’re in the pound-for-pound list you should be willing to fight anybody. That’s what the pound-for-pound list is for.”
Max Holloway expressed that if he had lived in another era, he would have been a gladiator, emphasizing that gladiators didn’t concern themselves with weight classes, as evidenced by their absence of scales.
