Fight fans know Max Holloway as the iron-chinned warrior from Hawaii who never backs down. After twelve years of trading punches in the UFC’s octagon, he has earned both respect and concern from the MMA community. Known for his legendary wars, ‘Blessed’ has somehow never been knocked down in professional competition. But beneath the surface of his seemingly inhuman durability lies a thoughtful athlete who takes brain health seriously.
Holloway recently spoke up about the importance of protecting what matters most as he prepares for his upcoming title shot against Ilia Topuria at UFC 308. The 32 year old fighter revealed he takes brain health very seriously but refused to divulge any more information.
“Everybody keeps talking to me about, ‘Oh, how many times you get hit’ and blah, blah… Brother, I take brain health so seriously, people will never know. After my career [concludes], maybe I’ll talk about it and all the stuff we’ve been doing. But take care of you guys’ brains, do your homework, get on it and be smart,” said Holloway via UFC 308 media day.
The 32-year-old veteran has quietly revolutionized his training approach over the years. Gone are the days of brutal gym wars and head-rattling sparring sessions that were once considered essential to fight preparation. Instead, Holloway has embraced smarter training methods that preserve his cognitive health while maintaining his competitive edge.
The shift in Holloway’s approach offers a fascinating glimpse into the evolution of fight training. While old-school gyms often celebrated the “who’s tougher” mentality, modern fighters like Holloway are leading a more cerebral revolution.
Max Holloway Roasts Ilia Topuria For Being A Conor McGregor Copycat

During a recent media appearance, Max Holloway didn’t hold back when addressing Topuria’s pre-fight antics. The Hawaiian warrior took aim at what he saw as Topuria’s borrowed personality.
“You know the guy that he’s copycatting. This guy is a copycat, down to his tattoos, his aura, the way he’s approaching fights. The guy is a copycat, and your best friend’s [Conor McGregor] with the guy he’s following.”
Ilia Topuria recently tried to flip the script on Holloway’s signature move. The Spanish champion declared he would point to the canvas in the first ten seconds of their fight. But according to Max Holloway, he can’t just copy and paste that kind of swagger. He has to earn that!
