Mark Coleman, a former UFC fighter, was taken to the hospital by helicopter after he saved his parents from a big fire at their house in Fremont, Ohio. The fire started in the kitchen at 4 am on Tuesday, and Mark woke up because the family’s dog, Hammer, was barking. Mark rushed to help his parents, rescuing his father first, then his mother. Sadly, he couldn’t save Hammer from the fire, even though he tried to go back in to rescue him. Mark didn’t have any visible injuries, but he breathed in a lot of smoke while saving his family.
Chael Sonnen Unveils Mark Coleman’s Heroic Act
UFC legend Mark Coleman rescued his parents from a fire at their house last night. His dog woke him up and alerted him to the fire, so he saved his parents first, then tried to save his dog but passed out from smoke. He’s in the hospital now, and everyone in the MMA community is hoping he gets better soon. Chael Sonnen believes Coleman will come through this tough situation.
“I just want to remind you who you’re dealing with. We knew he was one of the baddest men on Earth. Being the baddest man on Earth and being the toughest are very different, it’s a very different conversation… Mark Coleman is one tough son of a b…. And if anybody has ever come back from this, you would be very, very naive to believe that this is going to hold down ‘The Hammer.’” Sonnen said.
The MMA pioneer, aged 59, showed great bravery by entering the burning home to rescue his parents, Dan and Connie Foos Coleman. The fire spread rapidly, and the roof collapsed soon after firefighters arrived. Coleman was taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital because of the seriousness of his injuries.
