The Ultimate Fighter series offers an ideal platform for up-and-coming fighters to showcase their skills while learning from some of the best in the business. From Brock Lesnar to Conor McGregor, numerous fighters have helped develop emerging talent. Meanwhile, in the Russian spinoff Hardcore Fighting Reality Show, ex-UFC champion Luke Rockhold nearly got into a heated brawl in the fighter house with a member of Team Tyron Woodley during a recent episode.
During the recent episode, Kazakhstani fighter Vasif Abbasov nearly clashed with Luke Rockhold, but Tyron Woodley, also a former UFC champ, jumped in to keep the peace. The exact reason for the tension isn’t clear. But Rockhold was caught on camera saying: “You’re a f**king p**sy.”
Unlike the regular Ultimate Fighter series, where coaches like Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko eventually face off, Rockhold and Woodley won’t be stepping into the ring against each other in this version.
Luke Rockhold vs. Tyron Woodley: Is the Hardcore Fighting Reality Show a UFC product?
To answer it simply, the Hardcore Fighting Reality Show isn’t affiliated with the UFC. It’s an independent series featuring fighters from various promotions. Meanwhile, Rockhold and Woodley are set to coach in Hardcore FC MMA, which is becoming increasingly popular in Russia. The Moscow-based company seems poised for a major breakthrough with two former UFC champions leading the charge.
Both fighters are currently working to get back on track. Since leaving the UFC, the two former champions have faced tough times: Mike Perry beat Rockhold at BKFC. And Woodley hasn’t fought since his bout with Jake Paul.
However, with this series, they’re not only helping the fighters but also regaining the spotlight. This renewed attention will generate buzz around them and elevate their brand once again.
