The Light Heavyweight division is quite an exciting place. Alex Pereira is the undisputed champion and recently completed his first title defense inside the octagon. Pereira shut the lights off Jamahal Hill in the first round of their fight in the main event of UFC 300. There are quite a few contenders in the company’s light heavyweight division. One of the major ones is Magomed Ankalaev, who has been unlucky in his fight for the UFC Gold.
Magomed fought for the UFC Light Heavyweight championship title a few months back. Many believe Ankalaev should have taken home the UFC gold.
Magomed Ankalaev sends out a warning
Magomed Ankalaev is one of the company’s most versatile fighters. He’s fluent in both striking and grappling. Ankalaev fought Jan Blachowiz for the title and arguably won against the Polish national. However, the judges gave the fight a majority draw. Many thought, including Jan, that Ankalaev should be taking the belt home. After the recently concluded UFC 300, Ankalaev broke his silence and sent out a rather stern warning to the division; he said,
Doesn’t matter how many people I have to knock out to get my title shot, I will do it and become champion, keep lining them up.
Magomed clarified that he will do what it takes to reach the pinnacle of the UFC’s light heavyweight division. He is willing to beat all the top contenders and major champions in the UFC to acquire the world’s Light heavyweight title. Magomed is on a tear in the UFC, winning several consecutive fights and becoming the world champion. He only lost his debut fight to Paul Craig when he entered the company.
Magomed Ankalaev last spectacularly beat Johnny Walker inside the octagon. He is a great knockout artist in the octagon and, being a Dagestani is well-versed in the ground game. Ankalaev will be the heavy favorite in any matchup in the division except when he takes on Alex Pereira. Magomed is hands down one of the significant underdogs, and the majority of the fighters are underrated.
