Beneil Dariush has been one of the top contenders in lightweights for years. He had an impressive eight-fight win streak in the company but still couldn’t fight for the title. Dariush last lost to Charles Oliveira and Arman Tsarukyan in the company, and since then, the world hasn’t heard much from the man. His coach, Rafael Cordeiro, explained the reason for Beneil’s inactivity in the UFC. Rafael said,
Benny had a rough year last year. He had two knockouts and three knockdowns. He was knocked down twice and knocked out once in the gym, and then fought Charles and was TKO’d. Fought Arman next and was knocked out. He had five situations during the year where his head was hurt. He’a a young kid and it was a request I made for him to take some time.
Rafael Cordeiro clarified that Baeneil Dariush did not have the best year in the UFC last year. Dariush had some major losses, including two knockout losses to Charles and Arman that caused him a lot of head trauma. He also revealed that he was finished by one of his sparring partners in training during his camp. Dariush is taking time off to fight and recover from the damage he incurred inside the octagon.

Beneil Dariush is just getting his mind back in the right place. The MMA world knows how good of a fighter Dariush is on his best day inside the octagon. He had beaten guys like Tony Ferguson and Gamrot when he was fit. Dariush will be willing to get fit and back on the win streak to win and get back in title contention in the UFC.
