Arman Tsarukyan, after losing the first round of the bout against Charles Oliveira, went on to win the last two rounds to claim the title contender spot in the lightweight division. Tsarukyan was put in some tough positions by Oliveira but overcame adversity to become the Lightweight title contender. Arman almost got choked out by the Brazilian grappler and didn’t tap even in a difficult spot. Arman, after his win, wrote on social media that,

The UFC recently announced that Dustin Poirier will take on the lightweight champion Islam Makhachev in a scintillating lightweight clash in the company. Poirier, who came off the win against Benoit St-Denis, is the next in line for the title. Tsarukyan will have to wait a few more months to fight for UFC gold. Islam Makhachev will take on veteran Poirier in an exciting clash. In any bout between the two, Islam remains the absolute favorite to finish Poirier before the bell rings and the bout gets over.
If Islam is to win against Dustin, he will have to fight Arman Tsarukyan, who will be his toughest matchup to date. Islam and Arman both have immense wrestling pedigrees and are elite strikers in the company. Makhachev will be the favorite going into any fight, but Arman will be willing to overcome the odds to fight for the title. Arman and Islam have fought in the past, and Islam emerged victorious after three rounds of decision victories.
