The UFC 301 just concluded; it is fair to say it was a star-studded night. Anthony Smith was one of the main features on the main card. He beat his opponent, the up-and-coming Light Heavyweight Vitor Petrino, in the first round via a vicious guillotine choke in the first round of the competition. Smith emerged as one of the leading contenders for the Light Heavyweight championship. Smith has made a massive claim about the Light Heavyweight king in Alex Poatan Pereira.
Pereira has previously challenged Smith to a grappling match, which Anthony Smith wholeheartedly accepted.
Anthony Smith challenges Alex Pereira
Alex Pereira is looking for his next opponent inside the octagon for later this year. He proposed a grappling match against Smith and was willing to give him his back in the tournament. Now, Smith is taking the verbal altercation to another level by claiming he’s ready to go against Pereira in any realm of competition. Anthony Smith said,
If he wants to fight, box, kickbox, f*cking thumb wrestle, chess, checkers, halo on xbox. I don’t give a f*ck. Whatever he wants to do.
Anthony Smith claimed he can take on the Brazilian kickboxing legend anywhere. Whether in the cage to fight, in a kickboxing match, or a game of Halo on an Xbox console, he will be more than happy to take on Smith in any situation. Alex Pereira has previously called out Magomed Ankalaev and Jiri Prochazka in the octagon for his second title defense of the belt. Anthony Smith is now the third contender he has called out in the octagon.
Anthony Smith is a much more versatile fighter. He is one of the best grapplers in the division and an equally good striker. Pereira is a natural kickboxer and tends to inflict damage on feet. He has knocked out all his opponents in his title fight victories. If they are to scrap in the future, it will be interesting to see who emerges victorious in the cage. Let’s see what happens in the light Heavyweight division of the UFC shortly.
